What You’ll Be Rockin’:
As our Lead Engineer you’ll be responsible to the GM for the integrity of the hotel’s physical facilities including proper operation, maintenance, life safety, fire prevention and physical security of the building, grounds, FF&E, mechanical plant, appurtenances and installation. You’ll also supervise all POMEC (Property Operation, Maintenance and Energy Cost) activities.
Main areas of responsibility:
- Efficient Engineering department management
- Monthly inspection of the entire property. After each inspection tour, consults with the General Manager, Housekeeper, Chef and all other Department Heads regarding maintenance problems of specific departments. Reports results to the Management and Department Heads.
- Water and sewage quality control
- Life safety and fire prevention programs
- Physical security programs (in cooperation with the Hotel Security department)
- Effective preventive and routine maintenance
- Maintenance planning and schedule
- Departmental time keeping records
- Engineering department staff programs and procedures
- Inspection and staff supervision
- Adhere to labor standards and labor cost control measures
- Parts and material inventories
- Training programs for Engineering department staff
- Proper appearance and housekeeping of all plant and equipment rooms
- Analyses and monitors POMEC operations and expenditures for the hotel
- Receives and analyses feedback information from engineering department in the hotel for recommending to the RCE (Regional Chief Engineer) new hotel criteria, standards and optimizing designs for economical operation and maintenance.
- Maintains completed files of manufacturer, specifications, manual, etc., on machinery and equipment. Maintains drawing file of architectural, mechanical, electric and as built drawings.
- Participates with the General Manager in review and makes recommendation to the RCE on the annual Engineering department budgets of the hotel.
- Initiates proposed Capital Expenditure Authorizations requests (CEA forms) pertaining to Engineering department when requiring General Manager Approval.
- Performs all management responsibilities common to all RHG executives in accordance with Policies & Procedures
- Attends Departmental Heads meetings.
- Attends annual meetings with the RCE.
- Assures that utility invoices are forwarded promptly each month to the Utility Consultant for analyzing, and that Engineering department analysis sheets are processed promptly per current instructions.
- Investigates and recommends sources when local purchasing of contract services, equipment, parts and supplies for his department are required.
- Prepares monthly reports to the General Manager regarding the usage and consumption of electricity, fuel oil, gas and water.
- Acts as hotel coordinator or liaison with outside contractors and agencies if assigned duties in connection with major rehabilltation projects or major additions on which there is no Technical Services Project Manager
- Ensures that all potential and real hazards are reported and reduced immediately
- Fully understands the hotel's fire, emergency, and bomb procedures
- Ensures that emergency procedures are practiced and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees
- Ensures that all employees within own department and the hotels work in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others
- Stimulates and encourages a general awareness of health and safety in tasks and activities managed within the department
- Ensures the safety of the people and property within the premises by applying hotel regulations, and adhering to existing laws and regulations
- Anticipates possible and probable hazards and conditions and either corrects them or take action to prevent them from happening
- Ensures that the highest standards of personal hygiene, dress, uniform, appearance, body language and conduct of hotel employees is maintained by all employees in the department
