PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
Job Summary:
Reporting to the on-property Commercial the role provides strategic guidance to establish and drive all sales including but not limited to M&E and Food and Beverage, Events and other operating departments, promotional and product development programs, targeted toward existing and new markets, with full accountability for achievement of annual revenue budget.
The job incumbent should be active, proactive, and achieve results. All work to be carried out in line with the hotel’s guidelines and sales business plan, and RADISSON Hotel Group’s corporate guidelines and service concepts.
As the DOSM, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies to drive revenue and increase brand awareness
You will oversee a team of sales and marketing professionals and work closely with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to achieving our goals.
This is a full-time, permanent position.
TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MAXIMISES HOTEL REVENUE ACROSS KEY CUSTOMER SEGMENTS
REPORTING SCHEDULE
- Ensure own function operates within cost restraints
- Maintains effective internal and external communication.
- Prepare proposals that are geared to maximize profit while satisfying guest needs.
- Utilizes the “Consultative selling” sales techniques.
- Contacts in-house guests to foster additional business, repeat bookings, or referrals to other Radisson Blu hotels
Sales Responsibilities
- Drive and ensure the implementation of the annual commercial plan to achieve annual business objectives.
- Be responsible for overseeing commercial strategies for the hotel, managing the assets by connecting strategy and business processes. Business processes should be designed to impact all revenue streams, including a focus on Rooms, Catering, Food & Beverage and Marketing.
- Lead, manage and monitor all day-to-day sales activities of the Sales Team members with focus on developing strategic value-based outcomes that enable the achievement of sales objectives.
- Lead the preparation of regular business reports including Weekly reports, monthly reports, annual goals and targets,
- Monitor the achievement objectives and goals and takes appropriate action to correct shortfalls versus the strategic plan.
- Manage and drive all key business segments for the property and in close collaboration with Revenue Management.
- Manage key and niche accounts across the main segments and execute account plans to key clients within these segments.
- Execute and attend client events, trade shows and sales missions to maintain, build and develop key relationships with clients across domestic, regional and international markets.
- Track and measure productivity of key Sales managers to develop sales programs and initiatives.
- Understand and contribute to overall revenue management initiatives and strategies to ensure every revenue opportunity is maximized.
- Assist teams to ensure all relevant regional and corporate SMDL opportunities are maximized with particular focus on Web Direct, Loyalty, Sales and Digital with relevant KPI’s.
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to achieve revenue goals and increase brand awareness
- Lead and manage a team of sales and marketing professionals, providing guidance, support, and training as needed
- Work closely with other departments, including revenue management, operations, and finance, to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to sales and marketing efforts
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, including travel agents, corporate clients, and event planners
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities and stay informed on industry trends and competition
- Plan and execute sales and marketing campaigns, including advertising, promotions, and special events
- Monitor and analyze sales and marketing data to track performance and make adjustments as needed
- Prepare and present reports and presentations to senior management on sales and marketing efforts and results
- Manage the sales and marketing budget and ensure resources are allocated effectively to achieve goals
- Stay up to date on the latest sales and marketing techniques and technologies, and make recommendations for their implementation
PR & Coms Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
- Marketing & Digital Responsibilities
- Contribute to the success oof the property marketing, communications activities ensuring information flow
- Oversee and evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Leadership
- Ensure optimization of the team’s job scope and resources deployment.
- Develop a sales learning culture through mandatory defined sales training modules for Sales & Non-Sales talent.
- Be the leader for driving the Commercial Excellence Scorecard, sharing best practice, Commercial KPIs: RGI, Web Direct, SAP Sales Cloud and Loyalty Contribution
- Develop and establish an experienced and successful team. Ensures a challenging and exciting environment to encourage full career development and personal growth.
- Ensuring that all policies and procedures as well as company standards are in place and functioning effectively, and contracts are set in accordance with the legislation and the company standards.
- Ensure consistent use of tools to drive consistency across the region (i.e Commercial self-audit tool, Commercial Plans).
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in similar roles in the hotel industry in a sales Management position, preferably DOSM
- Prior team leadership experience is a must.
- Experience of African market in hospitality market is a must
- Strong understanding of Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Revenue and Loyalty concepts.
- Strong understanding of market influences and impacts on supply and demand.
- Fluent in written and spoken English, French and Kinyarwanda (other languages desirable).
